Arsenal morning headlines as Man City face injury crisis and Torreira issues message to fans

Good morning, Arsenal fans. Here are your morning headlines for Sunday, October 11.

Torreira bids farewell to Arsenal fans

Lucas Torreira has said his goodbyes to Arsenal fans after leaving the club to join Atletico Madrid on a season-long loan deal.

The Uruguayan midfielder has made the move to Spain for the 2020/21 campaign after falling out of favour in north London.

Having joined from Sampdoria in 2018, Torreira failed to fulfil his early promise at the Gunners but leaves in an amicable fashion with the best wishes of the fans.

“It was an absolute privilege playing for Arsenal these last two seasons! Thanks a lot! We catch up soon!” Torreira wrote on his Twitter account.

“Once a Gunner...always a Gunner!!”

Arsenal stars in England training

Elneny's role in new-look Gunners midfield

The arrival of Thomas Partey at Arsenal has called into question the role of Mohamed Elneny.

And football.london has now outlined the future role of the Egyptian in the Gunners team after making six appearances, five of which have come from the start.

It is likely the box-to-box midfielder will lose his place due to Partey’s arrival and he will be an understudy to Granit Xhaka, despite his fine form in recent matches.

Elneny is a box-to-box midfielder with quality in both defence and attack but he will likely lose out in the new-look team.

Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi's loan departures do mean he is set to play a prominent squad role this season.

City injury headache for Arsenal clash

Manchester City are set to have no fit senior strikers available to face Arsenal.

Star striker Sergio Aguero is expected to miss the fixture, as reported by MEN Sport via football.london, while Gabriel Jesus is also likely to be ruled out for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Oleksandr Zinchenko will also be unavailable for City, although there is hope that Joao Cancelo and Ilkay Gundogan will both be available.
