Arsenal morning headlines as Liverpool legend makes Nketiah claim, Mesut Ozil's Boateng message

Here are your Arsenal headlines for the morning of Wednesday November 18.

Mesut Özil turns sights on Germany manager after historic thrashing

Exiled Arsenal playmaker Mesut Özil has aimed a jibe at Joachim Löw after Germany suffered a historic thrashing at the hands of Spain on Tuesday evening.

Spain put six goals past Germany in a 6-0 UEFA Nations League win, consigning the national team to their worst defeat in decades. It was a result that shone a light on Löw’s decision to dispense with much of Germany’s old guard.

Indeed, the likes of Jérôme Boateng, Thomas Müller and Özil haven’t represented Germany in the last two years and the Arsenal man took the opportunity to twist the knife.

“Time to take Jérôme Boateng back,” Özil tweeted, in clear reference to Low’s decision to move the German national team into a new generation.

What Matteo Guendouzi did after permanent Arsenal exit was teased

Hertha Berlin have teased a potential summer move to sign Matteo Guendouzi on a permanent basis from Arsenal, with the young Frenchman settling in at his new club.

“We are happy that he is there and that he enriched our game from the start,” said Hertha Berlin sporting director Michael Preetz (as per Kicker). “We'll see everything else next summer. How the prices will develop by then and what Arsenal is planning then, nobody can say today.”

Shortly after these comments were made, Guendouzi turned in an impressive display for France’s Under-21 side in their European Championships qualifier against Switzerland.

This was noted by a number of Arsenal fans on Reddit who questioned whether Mikel Arteta should give Guendouzi another chance to prove himself at the Emirates Stadium before selling him on.

Michael Owen makes prediction on future of Arsenal forward

Former Liverpool and England striker Michael Own believes Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah is destined to be a “goal machine” for the duration of his career.

Nketiah has forced his way into the first team fold at the Emirates Stadium this season, also impressing for England’s Under-21s, scoring twice in the 5-0 demolition of Albania on Tuesday evening. Owen had high praise for the young forward.

“He’s very good,” Owen told BT Sport. “He’s got a real smell for it, hasn’t he? He knows where the ball’s going to drop. I like his movement. I like his hunger to score goals.

“Some players are confidence players. If you miss a penalty and you’re a confidence player, you go missing all game. If you’ve just got pure self-belief, it just shrugs off you and you’re just onto the next one.

“With that type of attitude, with the way he plays, he’s just going to be a goal machine all his career. The key for him is obviously trying to get consistently into that Arsenal team, and then all his horizons are open.”
