Arsenal morning headlines as Gunners ordered to complete Partey transfer, Willian deal close

Here are the Arsenal morning headlines for Tuesday, August 4.

Partey a must for Arsenal - Campbell

It’s no secret the Gunners have been chasing Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey this summer, with reports already having emerged of the north London club having two bids turned down.

The outcome seems there if Arsenal want, and can afford, it: pay the asking price and the midfielder will be allowed to leave.

For former striker Kevin Campbell, it’s a signing which simply has to happen to allow Mikel Arteta’s side to move forward.

“Thomas Partey is a signing that I desperately want to happen for Arsenal," Campbell said to Gaming Bet.

Mikel Arteta loves Arsenal's team spirit

"Because if you speak to any Arsenal supporter, there’s a lack of a holding midfielder who is big, strong, aggressive and complete. Arsenal have missed that since probably Patrick Vieira and Gilberto Silva.

"Arsenal need somebody and I’ve watched Partey play all year, I think he is ideal for Arsenal. First signing? Arsenal need to get Partey."

Gunners look close on Willian deal

Another of Arsenal’s reported summer targets is Chelsea attacking wide man Willian.

He was widely reported to have turned down the Blues’ two-year offer of a renewal, meaning he’ll leave on a free transfer—and Arsenal are well-placed to profit.

There are now “advanced talks” between club and player, with a three-year deal at the Emirates Stadium on offer, which suits the Brazilian more, says France Football.

Willian has no shortage of offers, with Real Madrid, Manchester United and MLS clubs all said to be keen to land him.

Aubameyang latest

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice to turn the FA Cup final on its head and win the game for Arsenal - then, of course, dropped the trophy.

But since the celebrations it has been all about the striker’s long-term future, with clubs keen to sign him but the Gunners hopeful he’ll stay.

"I am really not thinking about this now, I really just want to enjoy with the guys and take the trophy now," he told BT Sport after the match.

But football.london report there will be a formal extension offer made to Aubameyang soon, with a three-year contract at £250,000 per week ready.

However, German outlet Suddeutsche Zeitung say that the Gabonese forward headed straight off on holiday, so the issue won’t be sorted immediately, despite Arteta saying he can be a legend at the club by earning “admiration” and “respect” with his elite-level goalscoring prowess.
