Here are your Arsenal morning headlines on Friday, April 10.
Former Arsenal defender linked with Spurs job
Former Arsenal defender Steve Morrow has been linked with the vacant role of academy director at Tottenham Hotspur.
Morrow is said to be on the shortlist along with a number of impressive candidates after John McDermott left the role at Spurs to join the FA, according to the Daily Mail.
The former Arsenal defender has earned an impressive reputation for one of the best academy administrators during his time at Arsenal. The likes of Alex Iwobi, Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson have all developed under Morrow.
However, Morrow’s loyalty towards Arsenal is said to be one of the main stumbling blocks that could blockade a move. Spurs, though, will undoubtedly be interested in securing the services of the Northern Irishman who is one of the most notable candidates linked with the job.
Messi describes ‘natural’ Henry
Lionel Messi is highly regarded as one of the best footballers ever, but Arsenal fans will love seeing his comments about Theirry Henry.
The dangerous attacking pair formed one of the most prolific striking partnerships in world football during the Frenchman’s time at Barcelona. Henry had previously scored 175 Premier League goals for the Gunners before making the move to the Catalan giants.
Messi has revealed how he couldn’t take his eyes off of Henry when he first moved to Camp Nou.
"The first day he entered the dressing room, I did not dare to look him in the face," Messi told French publication L'Equipe.
"I knew everything he had done in England. I had an image of him made and suddenly we were on the same team.
"I loved Henry. The ease of finishing an action, how he takes the road to the goal and ends the play.
"He gives the impression that it is natural. His career, his dribbling, the last gesture. It is fluid, proportionate."
Arteta outlines lockdown plans
Mikel Arteta has revealed how he is managing to keep track of his players during a national lockdown.
The suspension of Premier League football has been extended for the foreseeable future with play only resuming when it is safe and appropriate to do so.
However, the Arsenal boss has stated that the extra downtime has allowed the squad to gel even closer together.
"The experienced players have families around them and kids that are occupying them. Those of us with children only realise now how hard it is at home when we are away for our wives!" Arteta told Sky Sports.
"For the young players, some of them are alone in their apartments and there are long days. We have to be caring for them and we have to keep them busy and try to do things to improve their development and education."
