Arsenal morning headlines as Gunners lead Marc Roca race and Aubameyang warned off transfer

Here are your Arsenal morning headlines for June 14.

Arsenal favourites to sign Marc Roca

With Espanyol odds-on for relegation from La Liga, they may be forced to part with star midfielder Marc Roca.

Arsenal are favourites to sign him, according to La Razon. Mikel Arteta is reportedly a big admirer and, given Espanyol’s plight, Roca would likely come at a reasonable price.

Real Madrid are also keeping tabs on Roca, though their primary target this summer is Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.

Arsenal could also face competition from AC Milan and Everton, however.

Roca, 23, has made 34 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring twice.

Sanllehi must make contract decisions

Arsenal could lose three defenders during the Premier League run-in unless the club hierarchy takes steps to extend their contracts imminently, reports Football.London’s James Benge.

David Luiz’s contract expires on June 30, as do loan agreements for Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares.

While rules are in place to allow players to sign temporary contracts until the end of the season, those must be agreed by June 23 - meaning that Arsenal have less than two weeks to tie the three players down.

Luiz has been largely erratic this term and Soares is yet to make an appearance for the club, but Mari showed early signs of promise before the season was suspended in March.

Head of Football Raul Sanllehi now needs to make an urgent decision on their future. So far there have been no talks over extending Soares’ stay at the club, while discussions over Luiz and Mari are ongoing.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang warned off transfer

Ian Wright has suggested that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s best option may be to remain at Arsenal, despite ongoing links to Barcelona and Real Madrid.

As quoted in The Express, Wright said: “If the season was still going and he continued scoring goals then he’d be in a strong position.

“But I think the position he’s in now – we’re talking about someone who’s going to be 32 next summer.

“He is getting into a situation where, if he does see that contract out, are the same people going to come for him?

“The contract what he’s got on the table from Arsenal, is there going to be another club who’s going to give him the same kind of contract?”
