Arsenal morning headlines as Gunners handed Partey transfer boost, training bust-ups revealed

Here are your Arsenal morning headlines for Tuesday, May 5.

Arsenal handed Partey boost

Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey is open to a move to the Emirates Stadium, according to The Telegraph .

The Ghana international has emerged as one of Arsenal’s leading transfer targets as Mikel Arteta seeks to bolster his midfield.

The player himself is also keen to join the club and is hoping a deal can be struck between Arsenal and Atletico.

However, the transfer will hinge on whether the Gunners can find a suitable way to structure the deal.

The club’s revenues have been hit since the season was suspended in March, while the majority of the squad have accepted a pay cut.

Partey has a release clause of £45m, but Arsenal could secure him for a smaller fee if they offer players in part-exchange.

Arsenal games on YouTube

The Premier League are in discussions with Sky Sports and BT Sport over the potential streaming of matches for free on YouTube.

The 2019/20 season could resume next month, but all 92 matches will likely be staged behind closed doors.

The Premier League is therefore keen for all games to be broadcast live, with the majority set to be given to Sky and BT.

The government has suggested that some fixtures should be shown for free, but that’s unlikely to be via terrestrial TV.

The UK’s two major sports broadcasters may therefore opt to stream some of Arsenal’s remaining 10 games on their YouTube channels.

Lauren reveals Invincible fights

Lauren has revealed that members of Arsenal’s Invincibles squad regularly fought in training.

The Gunners became the first club since 1888/89 to go an entire season unbeaten when they won the Premier League title in 2003/04.

And Lauren, an important part of that team, believes that the competitiveness within the squad was key to their achievement.

“Of course there was fighting," Lauren told Arsenal’s In Lockdown podcast. "I love at Arsenal that the journalists didn't go to the training sessions.

"How competitive we were - all fighting between ourselves. I had a fight with Thierry [Henry], Thierry with Martin [Keown], Patrick [Vieira] with Freddie [Ljungberg].

“We were all very competitive and we were all fighting because we all had big egos, big personalities but by the time the games arrived, we were fighting for the same goal.”
