Bukayo Saka fuels contract speculation with cryptic tweet
Arsenal’s 18-year-old wonderkid Bukayo Saka has caused a stir on social media by sending a mysterious message to his followers on a day when contract speculation surrounding him intensified.
Borussia Dortmund are one of the clubs believed to be interested in signing Saka after some impressive performances this season under Mikel Arteta.
Saka has excelled since being moved to a left-back role, grabbing a goal and four assists in his last eight matches in all competitions.
Amid mounting rumours, the teenager took to Twitter to post a highlights reel of himself at Arsenal, with a caption consisting of a football emoji and an egg timer emoji.
Some fans have speculated that it hints he will be leaving the club in the near future, while others believe he will instead sign a new deal.
Dominic Raab suggests Premier League return is possible
Foreign secretary and stand-in Prime Minister Dominic Raab has provided an update on the prospect of professional sport getting back underway, hinting that a large testing capacity makes a return likely.
The Premier League, which has been suspended since March 13, is hoping to return on June 8, according to The Times.
And that idea has been given a boost by the government’s latest comments when asked if things could resume soon.
"Very difficult because of the level and scale of interaction," Raab told Andrew Marr in response to a question about smaller clubs resuming before the end of the summer.
"I think the professional sport may be different because of the scale of testing that they would be able to introduce.
"We do want to look, when it is safe and responsible, at ways to allow more outdoors activities to take place, but again we have to have the evidence that it is a sure-footed step that does not allow coronavirus to get a grip back on the country."
Arsenal ‘in the lead’ to sign Willian on free transfer
Mikel Arteta may soon be welcoming Chelsea winger Willian to the Emirates, as Arsenal reportedly move ahead of rival clubs in the race to sign the Brazilian.
Arsenal are said to be keen on the 31-year-old, and despite facing stiff competition from the likes of Liverpool, are in pole position to finalise a deal according to ESPN commentator Jorge Nicola.
"Arsenal are a little ahead today, but everything is still open. Especially because the pandemic affected the entire financial reality of football in the world," she said.
Willian is reportedly unlikely to sign a new deal at Chelsea because they are unwilling to offer him a long deal, while the prospect of joining his friend David Luiz in north London is said to influence Willian’s next career move.
