Arsenal morning headlines as Gunners favourites to sign Spanish star and youngster agrees deal

Good morning, Arsenal fans. Here are your morning headlines for Saturday, June 13.

Gunners favourites to land Roca

Arsenal are ahead of Everton in the race to sign midfielder Marc Roca this summer, according to reports in Spain.

Roca is almost certain to depart Espanyol this summer as the club face relegation from La Liga, and Mikel Arteta is an admirer of the 23-year-old.

Real Madrid and AC Milan are both noted by La Razon as suitors of Roca too, with the Espanyol man’s €35 million release clause not at all prohibitive to those sides.

Additionally, it’s expected that he’d actually leave for less, given circumstances this summer.

Arteta looks intent on restructuring the team to his liking and midfield is a priority, having been a weak spot for Arsenal across the past few seasons.

Youth prospect agrees terms with Arsenal

Mexican youngster Marcelo Flores has provided a boost to Arsenal’s academy by signing scholarship terms, a year after joining from Ipswich.

The attacking midfielder has agreed to prolong his stay, having been in-demand last summer with Liverpool among the teams hoping to sign him.

Flores is playing above his age group at both club and country level, with the 16-year-old part of the Mexico Under-18 side and playing five times for the Gunners’ Under-18s, too.

His two sisters, Silvana and Tatiana, had recently announced they would leave Arsenal and join Chelsea.

Ramsey set for quick Juventus exit

Aaron Ramsey’s Italian dream could be over after just one year with Juventus hoping to offload him as part of a cost-cutting exercise.

The Welshman’s salary of £400,000 a week means the Turin club have made him one of the top names to cull, as they face the prospect of losing income by playing without fans.

A report in the Mail suggests he has been touted to clubs around Europe, with Manchester United noted as interested - but not on the salary he is on in Serie A.

Whether that means Juventus would have to part-fund his wages, or Ramsey needs to accept a reduction in terms, is not yet clear.

But after just a single season in Italy it would be a disappointment for Ramsey to have to end his time with the club, having not yet established himself as a key starter.
