Arsenal morning headlines as Gunners 'convinced' they will seal Houssem Aouar transfer deal

Here are your Arsenal morning headlines for Sunday, 20 September.

Arsenal ‘convinced’ of Aouar transfer

Arsenal are reportedly convinced they will land Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar in this transfer window.

According to Calcio Mercato, the Gunners are preparing a bid for the French midfielder, who has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.

While Dani Ceballos has returned for a second loan spell with the club, Aouar’s arrival on a permanent basis would be a huge sign of intent from the north London club.

Aouar’s performances in the Champions League last season turned a lot of heads, most noticeably his impressive showing during Lyon’s quarter-final win over Manchester City in August.

Arsenal 2-1 West Ham: Press conference with Mikel Arteta

Arteta on ‘lucky’ Arsenal and the desire to improve

Mikel Arteta has outlined his desire to continue improving as Arsenal boss after a few ‘lucky’ moments against West Ham on Saturday night.

The Gunners overcame David Moyes’ side with a late winner, giving Arsenal two victories from two to start the 2020/21 campaign.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Arteta admitted his team benefited from moments of luck but ultimately showed a desire to gain all three points.

He said: “Yes, but I think we were a little bit lucky in certain moments for sure.

“But as well, we find a way to win it and it's the mentality I want that the team always believes that we can do it up until the last moment.

“Even if we have difficult games when we suffer, we make it difficult for ourselves in certain periods, but in the end it's three points. This is why we are here. As well, take some big notes because there are a lot of things to improve."

Nketiah explains Ceballos argument after late winner

Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah has explained the reason behind his bust-up with teammate Dani Ceballos last weekend.

The pair combined late on against West Ham on Saturday to secure all three points in a 2-1 victory.

After coming on to score the winner, Nketiah spoke about the fallout with Ceballos and noted that they have since made up.

"You know, there was a bit of a coming together, I was a bit upset with the challenge he put in," Nketiah told Sky Sports

"The reaction was there but we made up pretty quickly, he apologised. You have to get on with it, that's what happens in life.

"It was nice for him to make the assists for me tonight, it's all love now.”
