Here are your Arsenal morning headlines for Saturday, May 30.
Luiz discusses future
David Luiz has spoken out on his future as rumours of an Arsenal exit gather pace.
The Brazilian defender moved to the Emirates Stadium from Chelsea last summer in a deal worth £8m.
But Arsenal are yet to exercise an option to extend his contract for another year, and Luiz has now cast further doubt over his future by admitting that he wants to return to former club Benfica.
“I have already spoken with (Luiz Filipe) Vieira. It will happen if the President permits it and fans want me back,” he told Record.
“To be able to wear that jersey again and enter the stadium is worth more than many trophies. Benfica doesn’t deserve me to come back without helping.”
Arsenal snap up talented teenager
Arsenal have completed the signing of 19-year-old forward George Lewis on a free transfer, according to Fram Larvik sporting director Jostein Jensen.
Lewis had a trial with the Gunners at the start of March and impressed the club’s coaching staff.
The teenager only played five times for Fram Larvik, a Norwegian third-division side, and is expected to be part of Steve Bould’s Under-23 squad next season, ahead of a possible push for the first team in the future.
“Yes, we can confirm that. I have been told that he has signed for Arsenal. We wish George good luck,” Jensen told VG.
Khan’s controversial comments
The Premier League is set to return next month, but it has emerged that some matches will be held at neutral venues.
Discussions are underway that could result in the north London derby taking place away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, gave his backing to the controversial proposals and hinted that fans of Arsenal and Spurs could not be trusted to stick to the government’s guidelines.
"We can't have fans congregating around the stadiums,” Khan told LBC. “We don't want Premier League clubs in London to have fans congregating... we've got Tottenham vs Arsenal coming up. It's really important clubs work with police and others to make sure we get this right.”
However, there is no evidence that Arsenal fans would gather at stadiums if they had been instructed to stay away.
