Arsenal morning headlines as Gunners come up with fresh plan to fund Thomas Partey transfer

Here are your Arsenal morning headlines for Tuesday, August 11.

Arsenal ‘offer trio’ in Partey bid

Arsenal have reportedly offered Atletico Madrid Hector Bellerin, Lucas Torreira and Alexandre Lacazette in an attempt to sign Thomas Partey.

According to Spanish journalist Kike Marin, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is prepared to part company with all three players in order to land the Ghana international, who is one of the club’s top summer targets.

While Arsenal are determined to secure Partey’s signing, they are not prepared to pay the player’s £45million release clause in cash.

However, Atletico are not thought to be interested in Bellerin or Torreira and while they are intrigued by Lacazette, they would prefer a deal for the Frenchman that is separate from the Partey negotiations.

Lacazette, who joined Arsenal from Lyon in 2017, scored 10 goals in 30 Premier League appearances during the 2019/20 season.

Gunners set pre-season start date

Arsenal will begin pre-season training on August 22, just a week before they are due to meet Premier League champions Liverpool in the Community Shield.

It spells a dramatically truncated holiday period for the Arsenal squad, who beat Chelsea in the FA Cup final on August 1.

Some of Arteta’s squad, however, will report to London Colney this Friday for fitness tests, particularly those players who spent the 2019/20 season out on loan.

The club will look to organise a series of friendlies behind closed doors between the Community Shield and the beginning of the new Premier League season, which is due to get underway on September 12.

Ramsey surplus to requirements at Juve

Former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is not part of new Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo’s plans at the club, according to The Mirror.

Pirlo was last week appointed as Maurizio Sarri’s successor at the Serie A champions, with the former midfielder expected to bolster the squad following a disappointing Champions League last-16 exit at the hands of Lyon.

Ramsey has struggled to cement his place at Juve, starting just 11 league games under Sarri.

The 29-year-old reportedly earns £250,000-a-week at Juve having last summer ended his 11-year stint at Arsenal to join the Italian giants.

Juve are also prepared to offload Gonzalo Higuain, Sami Khedira, Daniele Rugani and Mattia De Sciglio as part of Pirlo’s squad shake-up.

Arsenal fans were quick to jump on the news and urge Ramsey to return to the Emirates.
