Here are your Arsenal morning headlines for Tuesday, 13 October.
England Under-21 boss backs Nketiah to emulate Shearer and Kane
Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah could reach the levels of Alan Shearer and Harry Kane, says England Under-21 boss Aidy Boothroyd.
The 21-year-old has scored 13 goals for the Under-21s, the same number as all-time leading goalscorers Shearer and Francis Jeffers.
And Nketiah’s international manager has backed him to go onto “big things”.
“There are always comparisons with top players over generations,” said Boothroyd, as quoted by the Evening Standard.
“If you look at Alan and the career he had and Harry Kane and the career he is having - where Eddie is concerned, if he can get to the point where, like those two players, he's in on goal and you just know he is going to score, that's when you make the step from young player to senior player.
“He's not quite there yet but he's not far off. The fact he's in the company of those players that I've mentioned shows how much I think of him and how much we think of him in the system.
“He is destined for some big things. He has an aura of responsibility and leadership about him. He is a natural. He is very professional as well.
“If you were going to put someone up there as 'this is what you want young England players to look like', then it would be him.”
How Arsenal can adapt tactically after Partey signing
The signing of Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid on deadline day gives Arsenal plenty of tactical options.
The 27-year-old is a quality addition and should give Mikel Arteta more room to experiment in midfield.
“I think he allows us to play different formations and he can fit in within those formations in different positions, which is a really good thing to have in a squad where, in midfield, I think we were a little bit short,” Arteta said.
De Bruyne has injury scare ahead of Arsenal game
Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne could be a doubt for Sunday’s game against Arsenal after picking up an injury on international duty with Belgium.
He is, according to Belgium’s Twitter account, not “fit enough” to play in his country’s Nations League meeting with Iceland tomorrow night.
The tweet read: “UPDATE: @DeBruyneKev returned to his club. He couldn’t be fit enough to play against Iceland.”
De Bruyne started in Belgium’s 2-1 defeat against England at Wembley, but was substituted by manager Roberto Martinez in the second half.
