Arsenal morning headlines as Aubameyang replacements identified, Fabregas makes Mbappe admission

Here are the Arsenal morning headlines for Monday, April 20.

Gunners identify two Aubameyang replacements

Arsenal have ramped up their search for a possible replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Aubameyang, who joined from Borussia Dortmund in 2018, has been linked with Barcelona in recent weeks.

However, while there is no guarantee that the striker will depart, they have reportedly identified Valencia’s Rodrigo and Celtic forward Odsonne Edouard as possible replacements.

According to the Mirror, Rodrigo, 29, could cost around £45m despite having scored only five times in 28 games this season.

Edouard is another option, however, with the Frenchman’s stock having risen after scoring 62 goals in 126 appearances for Celtic.

The 22-year-old, who is also wanted by Lille and Lyon as per le10sport , is valued at £35m by Celtic.

Arsenal wary of Dembele injury history

Arsenal and Manchester United will assess Ousmane Dembele’s extensive list of injuries before making a move for the Barcelona winger.

Dembele, who joined Barca in a £135.5m deal in 2017, has managed only 51 games in almost three full seasons for the Catalan giants.

And while Arsenal and United are interested in the 22-year-old, Diario Sport claim both clubs will investigate the reasons for the Frenchman’s persistent woes before making an official bid.

A loan deal may also be discussed for the former Rennes ace, who is determined to regain full fitness and nail down his spot in Quique Setien’s first team at the Camp Nou.

Fabregas would sign Mbappe if he managed Arsenal

Former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has said that he would look to sign Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe if he ever took charge of the Gunners.

Fabregas, who made over 200 appearances in eight years at the Gunners, is currently with Monaco after winning two Premier League titles in a five-year spell at Chelsea.

Mbappe has scored 90 goals in 120 games since joining PSG from Monaco in 2017, while he was a key figure in France’s triumphant 2018 World Cup campaign.

"Cristiano (Ronaldo) is 35 and Leo (Messi) is going to turn 33, they are older. For youth, talent, desire and mentality, I would sign Mbappe," he told Spanish radio station Cadena Cope.

"The thought of having him for ten years up front for my team, I would go for him. Then there are players like Neymar and [Erling] Haaland, but due to his goal getting and his speed, Mbappe reminds me of Thierry Henry.

"I saw him from in behind and it was a delight when you gave him a long pass into space."
