Here are your Arsenal morning headlines for Sunday, November 1.
Barcelona financial situation could be good news for Arsenal
Barcelona are set to cut their wage bill by around £170million as they look to improve their financial situation.
That is according to EsportsRAC, who claim the Catalan club are set to talk to legal representatives of players regarding their salaries.
It suggests Barcelona may look to offload players, and one recently on Arsenal’s radar is former Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho.
The Gunners were believed to be interested in the Brazilan international this summer, but he has established himself as a regular under new manager Ronald Koeman.
The news that Barcelona need to significantly cut wages could alert Arsenal, though.
Arsenal legend ‘fearful’ of Manchester United
Ian Wright has admitted he is “fearful” of Manchester United ahead of today’s Premier League meeting at Old Trafford.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side head into the game off the back of an emphatic 5-0 win over RB Leipzig in the Champions League.
And former Arsenal striker Wright has suggested it could be a difficult afternoon for Mikel Arteta and his players.
“You look at Fred and (Scott) McTominay, that kind of gives them that kind of assurance,” he told Premier League Productions - via the Express.
“With (Paul) Pogba being free and (Bruno) Fernandes being able to come off as well and create, they still have the capability of, which I think they will probably do against Arsenal, in keeping the ball.
“And then you look at the form of Rashford, Greenwood, I was so pleased to see him score his goal the other day, get himself going like he was before everything happened with England.
“Then you're looking at a Man United team that, with me as an Arsenal man going into United, I'm a bit fearful of them.
“I am a bit fearful of them because if they do sit off, they can still play, and they've got some players that can really hurt us on the break.”
Merson wants more from ‘frustrating’ Aubameyang
Paul Merson has labelled Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ‘frustrating,’ despite his prolific goal scoring record for Arsenal.
The Gabon international has regularly played in wide areas under Mikel Arteta, with Alexandre Lacazette preferred as a central striker.
And former Arsenal winger Merson has claimed the Gunners should be getting more out of Aubameyang.
“I find Aubameyang frustrating, he plays out on the wing,” Merson said on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday. “If it ain't going well, I think he needs to be inside, he needs to be down the middle and involved in the game.
“He can drift out the game and then all of a sudden he'll pop up and score a great goal or be on the end of something.
“But I need him in the game more. I need Aubameyang, he's my talisman.
“Too many times it's quite easy for a team to mark him out of the game, you can stop him getting the ball and starve him.”
