Here are your Arsenal morning headlines for Sunday, July 12.
Arteta insists Tierney will stay at Arsenal
"He is not going anywhere," was Mikel Arteta’s five-word response to speculation that Kieran Tierney could leave Arsenal this summer.
The full-back has struggled with injuries since joining from Celtic 12 months ago, but he’s quickly become a fan favourite at the Emirates after a string of impressive performances.
There have been rumours that Leicester City are interested in reuniting him with Brendan Rodgers, his former manager at Celtic, but it doesn’t appear Arsenal would entertain any offers.
"I’m very impressed with him," the Gunners boss added. "Since I joined just before he started to play games, just how he was acting and working on his rehab.
"Everybody loves him at the club, it’s not a coincidence. He earns that every single day, the way he treats people, the way he works around the club, the energy he brings to the place.”
Here’s what Arteta had to say in full.
Arsenal monitoring Kluivert situation at Roma
Arsenal continue to closely track Justin Kluivert at Roma and could make a move if he’s made available for transfer, according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.
The 21-year-old Ajax academy graduate and son of former Barcelona star Patrick moved to the Serie A club in 2018 and has since made over 60 senior appearances, but the report states a rift has emerged with head coach Paulo Fonseca.
It’s said that Fonseca was unimpressed with Kluivert’s attitude in a recent 2-1 defeat to Napoli and responded by leaving him out of the squad entirely for the following match, a 2-1 win over Parma.
That decision has forced Kluivert’s agent Mino Raiola into action and the super agent is working on a potential exit for the Dutch international this summer.
Aubameyang gives perfect response to Spurs question
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang simply laughed at the suggestion that Tottenham Hotspur are better than Arsenal ahead of today's North London derby.
The Gunners striker is vying for his second successive Premier League golden boot this season; he currently sits on 20 goals, just two behind frontrunner Jamie Vardy.
“Are you serious? They’re better than us?” he questioned on Sky Sports with a smile in response to a fan that suggested Spurs might be better than his side. “Come on."
Arsenal could take a major step towards regaining their north-London crown and finishing above Spurs if they win the derby this afternoon.
The Gunners haven’t finished above their local rivals since 2016, but would move four points above them with three games remaining if they can claim victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
