Arsenal morning headlines as Aouar breaks silence over transfer saga and Arteta's perfect player

Here are your Arsenal morning headlines for Friday, October 9.

New Arsenal signing compares himself to Wilfried Zaha

Arsenal deadline day signing Joel Ideho has likened himself to Wilfried Zaha after his arrival from Ajax.

The £45million signing of Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey attracted most of the attention on Monday.

But there is plenty of excitement surrounding 17-year-old winger Ideho.

“I would say that my game is inspired by Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace because he's a creative player with fast pace,” the teenager said in an interview with allnigeriasoccer.com.

“My strengths would be my pace and my actions one-v-one.”

Four significant omissions from Arsenal's Europa League squad

Partey gives Arsenal missing ingredient in midfield

Thomas Partey is the kind of all-round performer Arsenal need in midfield, argues Matthew Gault for football.London.

The Gunners had been linked with Lyon’s Houssem Aouar and the 22-year-old was believed to be Mikel Arteta’s first-choice target.

But Partey’s defensive ability, as well as his passing range and work off the ball, could make the Ghanaian more beneficial to Arsenal.

With the likes of Dani Ceballos and Granit Xhaka in the squad, Arteta will probably find that Partey is the perfect player to build his midfield around.

Aouar opens up on Arsenal speculation

Houssem Aouar has insisted he is not “disappointed” after a potential move to Arsenal didn’t materialise.

The Lyon midfielder was heavily linked with a switch to the Emirates but ultimately opted to stay put, with the Ligue 1 side reluctant to negotiate his sale.

And Aouar has spoken out about the speculation, claiming he is “at home” with Lyon.

“Of course I asked myself all the necessary questions,” the 22-year-old said in quotes carried by the Express.

“I am in the headspace to have a great season with my club and get back the points that we have lost.

“So of course we are going to try to do the best season and to try to put the team and the club back in its rightful place, at the top of France.

“Disappointed? I am the opposite. I am at home, in the club that I love, with my friends and my family.

“So certainly I have all my bearings and it is giving me even more motivation to have a good season and to bring the club back into the top places in France.”
