Arsenal morning headlines as Antoine Griezmann swoop eyed and Houssem Aouar transfer hint

Here are your Arsenal morning headlines for Sunday, 6 September.

Gunners among Premier League teams eyeing Griezmann after Messi U-turn

Arsenal are reportedly keeping tabs on Antione Griezmann following Lionel Messi’s decision to remain at Barcelona.

Messi's bombshell announcement that he wanted to leave the Catalan club meant new Barca boss Ronald Koeman was set to build his team around the Frenchman.

However, with the Argentine now revealing he plans to stay in Spain for one more season, Girezmann’s future is in doubt.

The Daily Mail report the forward, who arrived at the club just last summer for £107million, could be sold instead, with Arsenal and Premier League rivals Manchester United and Liverpool also monitoring his situation.

Arsenal fans in a frenzy after spotting Mesut Ozil transfer hint

Eagle-eyed Arsenal fans have come up with a transfer theory suggesting that target Houssem Aouar will be joining the club imminently - and is set to take Mesut Ozil’s No.10 shirt.

Ozil's future remains in doubt despite featuring in a pre-season friendly for the Gunners this weekend. It was his first appearance since March having been left out of the team since the post-lockdown return of football in June.

Having also missed the FA Cup and Community shield wins, the German playmaker has been linked with a move away from the Emirates with Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr touted as a potential destination.

Rumours of his departure have intensified after one Arsenal fan noted that the player’s name was no longer on display in the club shop for shirt printing.

This revelation has led supporters to conclude that a new No.10 could be on his way to the club in the form of Lyon star Aouar.

Ceballos avoids quarantine complication to feature in Arsenal friendly

Arsenal confirmed the return of Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos for a second loan spell at the club this weekend.

The midfielder was able to play in the pre-season friendly against Aston Villa despite having travelled from Spain earlier in the week.

In the current climate, players coming from certain countries would require a period of self-isolation to stop the spread of COVID-19.

However, having been part of the “elite sports” bubble after starting pre-season with Real Madrid, the midfielder was allowed to link up with the Gunners immediately, making him available for selection for Mikel Arteta’s side for the Premier League opener against Fulham.
