Here are your Arsenal morning headlines for Monday, March 30.
Alex Song set for legal battle after being sacked by Sion
Former Gunners midfielder Alex Song was one of a host of players sacked by Swiss club Sion, after the league was suspended earlier this month.
"My lawyer will take care of the issue, we will go to FIFA, we will defend our rights," Song said to RMC.
“We received a WhatsApp message on Tuesday afternoon to tell us that everyone had to sign a document informing us that our wages were falling, that he was going to pay us around €12,000. The next day, we received the dismissal document without explanation.
"I am a football player, it is not my job. There are people to verify that the document is valid, I can't sign it, we had no discussion.”
The Cameroon midfielder played for Arsenal between 2005 and 2012, and had featured 12 times for Sion this season.
Arsenal linked with Brondby teenager
Mikel Arteta already has a couple of talented youngsters at his disposal, but Arsenal are reportedly in the market for another.
Anis Ben Slimane is the target of their admiration, according to Danish outlet BT, with the 19-year-old estimated to have a €5million (£4.4m) price tag.
The midfielder has mostly featured for Brondby’s U19s and second string teams this season, but has also made the breakthrough for the Danish side’s senior outfit, playing four Superligaen matches since the turn of the year.
He has represented both Denmark and Tunisia at international youth level.
Round rates Arteta among the elite
Steve Round has worked at heavyweight teams such as Everton, Aston Villa and Manchester United during his career, but now the experienced coach forms a key part of Arteta’s staff at Arsenal.
He was appointed as assistant coach and has already seen enough to suggest that Arteta can be among the best managers in world football.
“It’s a fantastic club with a top manager,” he told the Hartlepool Mail.
“Hopefully we have turned the corner and we are starting to move forward.
“It’s a brilliant club and I’m delighted to work for the manager who I think has got the potential to be one of the very, very best.”
The coaching staff had certainly begun to make a difference recently and there’s reason for optimism under Arteta’s guidance.
