Arsenal: Mikel Arteta confirms no Deadline Day signings as fringe players leave

Arsenal’s summer transfer business has ended, Mikel Arteta confirmed on Deadline Day, but further outgoings are expected.

The Gunners have again spent big this summer and did the majority of their business early on in the window. More than £200million has been spent on Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber and David Raya.

The Arsenal manager said: “I don’t expect anyone else to come in. There is no one else coming in.”

He added: “For me [today] is serene. I don’t have to do much work. Edu and the board are trying to finalise a few [player exits].

“We were working together to find the best solutions. We found them. I think the players are happy and the club did some good business.”

Arteta has lost Timber to injury, likely for the whole season, but said buying a replacement was out of reach for Arsenal.

He added: "We cannot go and buy another two, three players and if somebody gets injured long-term do something else. It was just not possible."
