Arsenal midfielder to be offered last-minute offer to quit Gunners with Galatasary transfer

Turkish giants Galatasaray are poised to make one last-ditch attempt to tempt Mohamed Elneny into quitting Arsenal .

Gunners boss Unai Emery told the Egyptian international earlier this year that he was free to leave the Emirates Stadium as he doesn't see him as part of his plans.

Elneny, 27, who joined Arsenal three years ago from Swiss side Basel, has struggled to feature under Emery since he took over from Arsene Wenger last summer.

He has attracted the interest of several Turkish Super Lig sides this summer, most notably Galatasaray and their fierce rivals Fenerbahce. But despite visiting Turkey for talks, Elneny has been unable to reach an agreement with the main sticking point his wage demands.

Elneny earns around £55,000 a week while Galatasaray have offered him just £25,000 and he isn’t keen on taking such a big pay cut. Galatasaray is hoping that Arsenal will help them make up the shortfall and haven’t given up hope a deal can be struck.

The Egyptian has made 89 appearances for the Gunners scoring two goals and notching eight assists however, he faces stiff competition for places in the middle of the park.

Matteo Guendouzi, Lucas Torreira and Granit Xhaka provide central defensive midfield options and Elneny has found himself being pushed further down the pecking order.

Arsenal enjoyed a strong transfer window in terms of new arrivals but also said goodbye to some key figures - most noteably Aaron Ramsey and Petr Cech - and it is possible there could be more departures.

They brought in experienced heads such as David Luiz alongside exciting young talents in the shape of Nicolas Pepe, Dani Ceballos and Kieran Tierney across all areas of the pitch.

The European transfer window closes on Monday 2nd September leaving clubs with little over a week left to wrap up their transfer dealings before the deadline.
