Arsenal midfielder set for squad number change ahead of new Premier League season

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is 'very likely' to wear the no.5 shirt next season, football.london understands.

The 28-year-old joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid for £45million last summer and was given the no.18 jersey, as his favoured no.5 was taken by Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

Partey wants to change his shirt number and sources have told football.london that it's 'very likely' that the Ghanian will be wearing the no.5 shirt when the new campaign begins.

There are expected to be several squad number changes for the new season, with new signings set to arrive at Emirates Stadium over the coming weeks.

Here, football.london has taken a quick look at some of those that are currently available to be snapped up.

No.8

Dani Ceballos, who has recently returned to Real Madrid, held the No.8 shirt for two seasons.

No.10

The No.10 shirt has been available since Mesut Ozil joined Fenerbahce on a free transfer back in January. Reports had suggested Emile Smith Rowe could take the number if he commits to a new long-term contract.

No.11

Technically, the No.11 shirt still belongs to Lucas Torreira but with the Uruguayan set to leave the club imminently that is expected to change soon.

No.20

Shkodran Mustafi was the last man to wear the No.20 shirt, before he departed back in January.

No.23

David Luiz will leave Arsenal when his contract expires at the end of the month and the no.23 will become vacant.
