Arsenal midfielder revealed as the second most valuable young player in Europe

A list of the top 50 most valuable young player has been revealed, and Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi has come out in second place.

The 20-year-old joined the Gunners from French side FC Lorient in July 2018, and has had a breakthrough season in the Premier League, playing a total of 31 league games this season.

According to the list, released by CIES Football Observatory, the defensive midfielder is valued at £70.1million, just second to the £150.3million value of England and Borussia Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho. Guendouzi is valued higher than players such as Manchester City's Phil Foden (18th), Manchester United's Diogo Dalot (13th) and AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma (6th).

Callum Hudson-Odoi of Chelsea is in 20th place (£20.3million). The attacker is currently sitting out the end of the season due to an injury picked up in the Premier League clash against Burnley earlier in the month.

West Ham United's Declan Rice is 5th on the list, valued at £64.2million, while Fulham's Ryan Sessegnon is 10th with a value of £43.5million.

Two other Arsenal youngsters also appear further down the list, Eddie Nketiah is valued at £12.6million in 35th place, while midfileder Joe Willock, who has made four first team appearances this season is in 46th, valued at £9.8million.

While Arsenal's league season has ended in disappointment with a top four finish effectively unreachable, if this list is anything to go by, with young players sprinkled into the squad, Gunners fans will be hoping that the team as well as the players have a bright future ahead of them.
