Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta makes Man City admission ahead of Liverpool fixture

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has admitted that he and his team will be watching Manchester City take on Liverpool before their game against Leeds United on Saturday.

In recent seasons, Pep Guardiola's meetings with Jurgen Klopp have been characterised as Premier League title-deciding clashes. However, the Merseyside club's poor form this campaign means that the Blues are battling the Gunners for top spot.

Currently, City sit eight points adrift of Arsenal with a game in hand but that gap will close to five if they can beat Klopp's men in the lunchtime kick-off. Despite having his own match to focus on today, Arteta said that he will be watching the Blues' encounter with Liverpool prior to their game at 3pm.

He told reporters: "Our focus is on what we can control – ourselves – every single day. But, we love to watch football games and for sure if we can, we will be watching them, like any other manager or team, and this is a great game to watch.

"There is a little bit of gap between the games, but when we get to [our] game, the focus will be on that and nothing else. Everyone will switch on and focus on what we’re going to do."

City do have a concern regarding the fitness of Erling Haaland ahead of their clash at the Etihad Stadium. The Norwegian talisman had to withdraw from international duty last month after picking up a groin injury and it is looking touch-and-go to see if he will be fit to face the Reds.
