Tony Adams has hailed Mikel Arteta for doing a “remarkable job” at Arsenal.

The Spaniard inspired the Gunners to a 1-0 victory against Manchester United at Old Trafford last weekend.

Former Arsenal captain Adams insists he “can’t speak highly enough”  of the job Arteta has done, positioning the club in ninth this term after delivering the FA Cup last season.

“He's the best I’ve seen in a long time,” Adams told Stadium Astro. “He really does understand the game, he expresses himself; he's very confident.

“It's his first job, for God's sake, he's doing a remarkable, remarkable job. He [Arteta] has got fantastic ability to work with this team.

“He puts hours into the training pitch. He's his own man, if Ozil's not in his thinking, he's out, it's as simple as that. I can't speak highly enough of the guy.

"The words coming out [of the club], when I talk to my mate Steve Bould, who's still in the club taking the Under-23s at the moment, he said to me, 'This guy has got it all, he's the governor’”.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's second-half penalty following a clumsy Paul Pogba challenge on Hector Bellerin was enough to secure all three points.

And Mohamed Elneny expressed his delight at a “special” win over United, which was the first league win at Old Trafford since 2006 for the Gunners.

"It feels really amazing, I feel really happy," said Elneny, who enjoyed a fine game alongside the club’s new signing Thomas Partey, who has immediately slotted into Arteta’s side to boost the midfield.

"It is special to win against Manchester United here.

"We know it is a long time since we won here. We gave 100 per cent and everyone worked really hard for it.

"We know how special it is for us today, that's why we gave everything to win this game."
