Here is your Arsenal morning digest for Sunday, April 26.
Gunners make decision over training at London Colney
Arsenal will allow their players to return to outdoor training at London Colney next week, the club has confirmed.
Manager Mikel Arteta was diagnosed with coronavirus on March 12, and the Gunners’ training ground has been shut since.
However, the club have confirmed to football.london that they will allow players to train at Colney from next week whilst still taking social distancing measures.
The club has 10 pitches that are currently not being used, and Arsenal are confident this can be used as a safe outdoor space in which to train.
“Players will be permitted access to the Colney grounds next week,” the statement read.
“Access will be limited, carefully managed and social distancing will be maintained at all times. All Colney buildings remain closed.
“Players will travel alone, do their individual workout and return home.”
Arsenal troll Spurs on Twitter
This weekend would have seen the second North London Derby of the season take place between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
With the two sides meant to go head-to-head this weekend, the Spurs Twitter account said they would be replaying some of the famous goals from Tottenham’s point-of-view.
It was not the best timing, though, with the fixture falling on the same day (Saturday) that the Gunners won the league at White Hart Lane in their “Invincibles” season 16 years ago.
Arsenal’s Twitter account simply replied with a gif of legend Thierry Henry smirking at the camera, with the Frenchman so influential in that record-breaking campaign.
The tweet from the Gunners’ social media account has received over 35,000 likes and over 11,000 retweets.
Gunners chase Fekir as Ceballos replacement
Arsenal have made enquiries to sign Real Betis attacker Nabil Fekir, according to Spanish newspaper Diario AS.
The Gunners are keen on the Frenchman, who was very close to signing for Liverpool back in 2018 when he was at Lyon.
His move to Betis last summer was a shock to many, with him being so close to joining the Reds just 12 months before.
With Dani Ceballos’ loan from Real Madrid running out in the next couple of months, there is no guarantee he will be an Arsenal player next season.
Fekir could be an ideal replacement for the Spaniard, with the France international scoring seven goals and provided three assists in La Liga for Betis this season.
However, he won’t be cheap as Arsenal have been quoted £44million to sign the 26-year-old from the Spanish club.
