Arsenal make key contract decision ahead of potential free transfer

Arsenal are set to hand highly-rated starlet Miguel Azeez a new long-term contract at the Emirates Stadium, according to reports.

The 18-year-old is tipped by many to become the latest Hale End academy graduate to break their way into the first-team, following on from Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe in recent seasons.

Azeez made his debut for the club as a late substitute in December's Europa League victory over Dundalk but his future has been hanging in the balance.

Arsenal 's current deal with the England youth international is set to expire at the end of the season, meaning the teenager would be available on a free transfer.

However, the Sun reports that Arsenal are negotiating a long-term deal that will tie up the teenager's future at the club.

Azeez has recently changed agents, with new representatives perhaps the reason behind the developments regarding his future.

In January, the Independent reported that Azeez was to become the latest starlet to be promoted to the first-team squad, with whom he has trained with regular, but a full breakthrough into a matchday squad is more likely to occur later in the season.

Arsenal are also continuing their push to secure Folarin Balogun to a new contract, with Mikel Arteta vocal in his confidence in retaining the New York born striker.

Balogun, like Azeez, sees his current deal expire at the end of the season and the Gunners are keen to ensure they do not lose his services on a free transfer.

Both players have been handed their debut in the Europa League this season and are considered to have a big future at the club.
