Arsenal 'make contact' with Moussa Diaby's agent over potential transfer

Arsenal have reportedly made contact with the agent of Moussa Diaby over a potential transfer.

The Bayer Leverkusen winger has impressed in the Bundesliga this season, contributing five goals and eight assists in 27 appearances.

Diaby only left PSG last summer in search of first-team football, and already has potential suitors lining up in the hope of moving him on again.

Le10 Sport report Arsenal are one of two sides interested in the 20-year-old, with Borussia Dortmund also in competition for his signature.

The Gunners though are said to be confident of luring Diaby to north London due to their strong links with his representatives.

Both clubs are believed to have made enquiries to Diaby's personal team to discuss the player's availability and sound him out over a potential switch.

Leverkusen value Diaby at more than double the €15million (£13.4m) they paid PSG for him last year, but that has not put either Arsenal nor Dortmund off their stride despite the current economic struggles.

Dortmund could find themselves in need of a winger in the coming months if Jadon Sancho leaves the club amid recent transfer speculation, though Diaby does tend to operate on the opposite flank.

Diaby has pushed his way into France's under-21 squad this season, and as he's still young, represents good sell-on potential for Dortmund's transfer model.

He was on form again when the Bundesliga returned this week, bagging a brace of assists in Leverkusen's 4-1 win over Werder Bremen.

Liverpool and Bayern Munich target Kai Havertz scored two for Leverkusen in the same fixture.

Arsenal meanwhile look set to offload Henrikh Mkhitaryan this summer after the midfielder signalled his intentions to stay at Roma.

Mkhitaryan has been on loan with the Serie A club all season.

He told the 'A Day With…' programme : "Since the first day I arrived here in Rome, I feel very good in the club, in the city, and of course it would be nice to stay here.

"The main target will be the Champions League, other wins and titles.

"People underestimate Serie A, the Italian league, but it's more than interesting to play here. The league is getting better and better, and last year's transfers speak for themselves."
