Arsenal maintain impressive Premier League record after Liverpool's loss to Leicester

Arsenal have maintained a Premier League record after Liverpool lost to Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday night.

Ademola Lookman scored the only goal of the game as the Foxes edged the contest 1-0 to leave the Reds six points off the top of the table.

Liverpool's biggest chances came in the first half when Mohamed Salah had a 15th-minute penalty saved by Kasper Schmeichel and headed the rebound off the bar.

The misses summed up the Merseyside outfit's night as they struggled to make the most of the chances they created.

And after failing to score, they're now unable to achieve something that has only been done once before in Premier League history.

In the 2001-02 season, Arsenal managed to find the net in every league game they played as they went onto win the title.

Liverpool had scored in every game prior to last night's defeat to Leicester, but their failure to find the net means that Arsene Wenger's record is still very much intact.

Defeat for Liverpool also means that they're now just six points ahead of Arsenal this season.

Mikel Arteta's men have fought hard to be in the top four ahead of the new year, and if they get things right in what is an important January transfer window, they will have a good chance of securing Champions League qualification.

The Gunners face league leaders Manchester City on New Year's Day before hosting Jurgen Klopp's Reds in the first-leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final on January 6.

They will have to play at least the first of those without Arteta in their dugout after the Spaniard tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday.
