Arsenal look certain to prove they've learnt little from previous transfer mistakes

Arsenal are set to lose Folarin Balogun this summer after the youngster reportedly turned down a new contract.

Highly-rated 18-year-old Balogun's current deal expires in 2021 and he has no plans to pen an extension.

According to The Athletic, the Gunners are left with little option but to let the American midfielder leave this summer in a bid to cash in on him.

Balogun has impressed for Arsenal's academy, and boasts an impressive goalscoring record for the club's youth teams.

In January the teenager was the subject of a £5million bid from Championship high-flyers Brenford, which was rejected by the Gunners.

Balogun had been earmarked by Mikel Arteta as one for the future, but the youngsters isn't prepared to wait and wants to crack on with his progression elsewhere.

Should the promising youngster leave the club before realising his potential, Arsenal may see history repeat itself once again.

The Gunners parted company with a young Serge Gnabry, only for the German to transform into a world-class operator for Bayern Munich.

Arsenal also allowed a young Ismael Bennacer to leave north London, and he too has been very impressive for AC Milan this season.

Arsenal will likely include sell-on clauses in any deal that enables Balogun to leave the Emirates, so they can potentially profit further down the line.

They also may wish to include a buy-back clause, or first option.
