Arsenal star gives insight into training during lockdown
Arsenal defender Rob Holding has provided a glimpse into how Gunners stars are maintaining their training regime during the current lockdown measures from the government.
Unable to train at the club’s London Colney base, players need to stay active at home while football is suspended.
Taking part in a Q&A on Arsenal's official Twitter account, Holding revealed a range of workout equipment in his home provided by the club including an exercise bike and dumbbell weights.
The Gunners recently confirmed that all players and staff will remain at home until further notice after completing 14 days isolation after manager Mikel Arteta’s positive coronavirus diagnosis.
"As a result of the current situation we are clear it would be inappropriate and irresponsible to ask players to come back at this time.” a club statement read.
Liverpool duo at odds over Aubameyang assessment
Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has split opinion between Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk and Reds legend Jamie Carragher.
Asked to pick his dream five a side team, the Dutch defender picked the Gunners hitman up front describing him ‘fantastic’.
However, Sky pundit Carragher disagreed, opting to omit the Gabonese star from his own team of the season.
"I was thinking about Aubameyang and the only problem with Aubameyang is he plays in so many different positions across the front three that I thought it's hard” Carragher told Sky Sports.
"It's difficult to say he's ahead of Mane or Sterling on the left, I couldn't justify that, and the same when I go to the centre-forward position.
"I looked at Aubameyang but the one I went for was Aguero.”
Arsenal to use GPS tech to track player fitness during lockdown
Arsenal are among a number of clubs who are providing players with GPS trackers to monitor training and fitness during the current lockdown period.
The club will be working with STAT Sport to track and feedback data from individual player workouts.
During the lockdown Premier League clubs have instructed their players to predominantly focus on strength and conditioning work ahead of any possible return to action.
The League intends to complete the current season although with the lockdown ongoing, it is unclear when resumption is likely.
