Arsenal loanee Dani Ceballos calm over Real Madrid future: 'I'm not over the hill yet'

Dani Ceballos is determined to make his Real Madrid career a success, with the Arsenal loanee insisting he is "not over the hill" at just 23 years old.

Ceballos signed for Los Blancos from Betis on a six-year deal in 2017.

The midfielder became a full Spain international before being loaned to Arsenal for the 2019/20 season, with Unai Emery a big fan.

Ceballos started brightly with a man-of-the-match display on his full debut against Burnley in August, but has struggled to hit those heights since with injury issues hampering him.

Emery was sacked in November and while Ceballos theoretically fits Mikel Arteta's brand of high-intensity passing football, it looks likely the midfielder will return to Real this summer.

Ceballos recently said Zinedine Zidane has told him that his future lies at the Bernabeu, and the playmaker believes time is on his side - especially with three years left on his current contract.

"I'm happy and I am under contract with Real Madrid," Ceballos told Deportes Cuatro. "I'm still only 23, I'm not over the hill just yet.

"Now I feel much more of a player and I'm ready for whatever challenge comes my way."
