Arsenal loanee Denis Suarez hits back at Unai Emery training claims

Denis Suarez has hit out at claims he has failed to impress Arsenal manager Unai Emery with his performances in training.

The on-loan Barcelona midfielder is currently in Dubai alongside the rest of the Gunners squad not to have been picked for international duty during the break.

Emery, who worked with Suarez during their time together at Sevilla, is reportedly unconvinced of the 25 year-old's ability to withstand the physical demands of playing in England.

The manager is ready to turn his attentions to Paris St. Germain midfielder Christopher Nkunku to strengthen his midfield in the summer rather than take the plunge to make Suarez's Barca move permanent at a cost of £18million.

The former Villarreal player, who has yet to start for the Gunners and has been restricted to just six substitute appearances since signing in January, scored a wonderful goal past Petr Cech during the team's training retreat, and took to Twitter to vent his frustration at the criticism that has come his way since arriving in North London.

He wrote: "Working hard, learning and improving. PS don’t talk about my workouts if you have no idea."

Talking about his Arsenal ambitions earlier this month, Suarez said: "My aim is to be a success here, perform well and feel important. I’d like to become an important player at the club. ‘I joined Aresnal to get a lot of playing time, to be an important player and feel important.

"I’m determined to perform well and be a success at this great club.

"I think Unai made me a football player, when I joined [Sevilla] I was a prospect. I was coming off the back of a great season in the second division with Barca B.

"But it was a big step up to the elite level. He really helped me."
