Arsenal line up two alternatives in case Martin Odegaard transfer plan fails

Arsenal have two alternatives to summer target Martin Odegaard.

That's according to the latest claims which suggest Odegaard remains the Gunners' prime target ahead of the summer, with the Norwegian having hugely impressed since arriving on a loan deal from Real Madrid in January.

Odegaard doesn't look as though he is available with Real Madrid wanting him back ahead of next season, but it still seems as though Arsenal will try to get a deal done.

But if the Gunners do fall short in pulling off a deal for the talented Norwegian, there are other options, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Real Betis star Nabil Fekir, who was linked heavily last week, and Emiliano Buendia, who was courted by the Gunners in the winter window, appear to be the two main alternatives.

Romano told the Here We Go Podcast: "Fekir is one of the players that Arsenal appreciate, as is Buendia. But the priority is to try for Odegaard."

Fekir is set to be available for around £26million in the summer, according to reports, despite having a release clause of around £77million.

But as reported by football.london, the Gunners are not likely to make a move with Odegaard remaining their priority.

Fekir could still serve as a back-up option, though, and the same can be said of Buendia, who will likely cost around £40million this summer.

Norwich City look very likely to return to the Premier League ahead of next season, currently sitting eight points clear at the top of the Championship.

And that only strengthens the Canaries negotiating position ahead of the summer when Arsenal could finally act on their long-standing interest in Buendia.
