Arsenal legend wades in on Nottingham Forest move for Anthony Knockaert

Arsenal legend Martin Keown understands why Chris Hughton has moved for Fulham winger Anthony Knockaert after he finally wrapped up a switch to the City Ground.

Knockaert's loan  move to the Reds was confirmed on Friday evening with the talented wideman staying at the City Ground until January.

Knockaert cost Fulham £10.5m but has not featured for the Cottagers in the Premier League with some fans questioning the decision to let him go.

But speaking on Talksport, Arsenal's legendary defender Keown certainly knows why Hughton was so keen to land him.

"Knockaert makes things happen, doesn’t he?," he said.

“You can see why Hughton wants him, he backs him and he believes in him.”

After starting his career in France, Knockaert moved to Leicester in 2012 and helped them to the Championship title.

He subsequently moved to Standard Liege in Belgium where he played, and scored, in the Europa League but after six months returned to England with Brighton where he worked under current Reds boss Hughton.

The 28-year-old scored 15 times as they finished runners-up in the Championship in 2016-17 and was named the Championship Player of the Year and selected for the PFA Championship Team of the Year.

He joined Fulham on loan last season and his move was made permanent in the summer.
