Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry has described it as an "honour" to become the head coach of Major League Soccer side Montreal Impact.
The 42-year-old has signed a two-year deal to become the head coach of the MLS side, with Henry returning to the league, having played for New York Red Bulls between 2010 and 2014.
This is the first job for Arsenal's leading goalscorer since he left Ligue 1 side Monaco earlier this year, with Henry unable to turn around the fortunes of the French side, who were 19th at the time of his departure.
But now, the former Belgium assistant is back in management, with the Frenchman signing a two-year deal, with the option of a third year in 2022.
"It's an honour to become head coach of the Montreal Impact and return to MLS," he said, as quoted by Montreal Impact in their announcement confirming Henry's appointment.
"It's a league that I know well where I had a great time. Being in Quebec, in Montreal, which has a huge multicultural heritage, is something extraordinary. I have always had an eye on this club and now I am there. "
Meanwhile, Impact Sports Director Olivier Renard said they are very happy to have Henry join the club.
"Young and dynamic, he is very familiar with MLS and meets the criteria we set. This appointment, two months before the resumption in January, will allow us to have the time to build the team with the one who will pilot it."
