Arsenal legend Thierry Henry emerges as shock second favourite for vacant Swansea City job

Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry is the latest name to be linked with the vacant manager's job at Swansea City.

Bookmakers Sky Bet have backed the Frenchman at odds of 5/1 to take over at the Liberty Stadium, placing him as joint-second favourite with Gus Poyet.

Tranmere Rovers boss Micky Mellon continues to lead the way, and is odds on at 1/2, but Henry's entrance into the frame could well cause some excitement among a section of Swans fans.

Henry has been out of work since being sacked by Monaco back in January, and previously worked with former Swans boss Roberto Martinez in the Belgium set-up.

The 35-year old also worked as youth coach for the Gunners back in 2015, and was even offered the role of under-18 coach, but was denied the position by Arsene Wenger after it emerged that the former World Cup winner would be carrying on his commitments with Sky Sports.

Nevertheless, that track record with nurturing young talent certainly leaves him well-placed for the Swans, who are keen to ensure they install someone capable of continuing the club's recent record of bringing through exciting young players.

Meanwhile, previous favourite Cameron Toshack has seen his odds lengthen dramatically, while Michael Flynn and Aitor Karanka also look to be outsiders with the bookies.
