Arsenal legend says Celtic are flat-track bullies and insists major part of club's season is gone

Arsenal legend Perry Groves believes Celtic are "flat-track bullies" and their Champions League exit is among the "worst results in their modern history".

Neil Lennon's side lost 2-1 to Ferencvaros at Celtic Park on Wednesday night, and Groves was scathing about the Scottish champions.

Groves, who made 155 appearances for Arsenal and won two titles with the club, insists much of the interest in Celtic's season has now disappeared.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Groves said: "I think this is a good 60-70% of their season, the interest in their season, gone.

"Good teams in League One would give them (Ferencvaros) a run. They're (Celtic) flat-track bullies in the SPL (sic).

"I don't even think this is a step up, to be honest. You know when you say when you step up to the league format of the Champions League, but this isn't a step up.

"This has got to be one of the worst results in Celtic's modern history, to get beat at home by the Hungarian champions."

Celtic were without the injured Odsonne Edouard, who has been linked with a move to Arsenal.
