Arsenal legend's Instagram message to Oxlade-Chamberlain after Liverpool's Champions League win

There's a sense of relief amongst those connected to Arsenal.

Losing 4-1 to London rivals Chelsea in the Europa League final and subsequently missing out on Champions League football for a third successive season was a bitter pill to swallow on Wednesday night.

But nothing would have compared to seeing their bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur lifting club football's biggest prize on Saturday night.

Luckily for Arsenal fans, Liverpool ensured that did not happen.

Jurgen Klopp's side secured a 2-0 win against Spurs thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah and Divock Origi to clinch the European Cup for a sixth time - and it leaves Mauricio Pochettino still waiting for his first trophy as Spurs boss.

Victory for the Reds in the final brought out a huge reaction from many Gunners supporters and now Ian Wright has got in on the act.

First taking to Instagram to congratulate Trent Alexander-Arnold, he also had a message for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - who left the Emirates Stadium for Anfield in the summer of 2017.

Despite leaving north London under somewhat of a cloud, a number of Arsenal fans did get in touch with Oxlade-Chamberlain on social media ahead of the Champions League final.

Although he didn't feature, supporters will be delighted that he was apart of the squad which stopped Spurs from winning the Champions League.
