Next Chelsea manager: Max Allegri to rival Frank Lampard as shock contender enters the running

Chelsea could be set for another change in the dugout as reports in Italy claim Maurizio Sarri is on the verge of leaving Stamford Bridge for Juventus.

It is claimed that his agent has already told the Blues he wants to go back to Italy to take over the Turin giants and the 60-year-old is tipped as favourite to replace their departing coach, Massimiliano Allegri.

This summer is set to be significant for Serie A with ex-Blues and Juventus manager Antonio Conte having been confirmed as the new boss at Inter Milan following the departure of Luciano Spalletti.

Cross-city rivals Milan are also seeking a replacement for Gennaro Gattuso.

Another manager to win the Premier League for the Blues under Roman Abramovich is already installed at Napoli, the last side Sarri took charge over in Serie A.

Last season, Carlo Ancelotti lead Napoli to second place, the same finish that the current Chelsea manager achieved in 2018.

Sarri remains odds-on to return to Italy, with Derby County boss Frank Lampard the clear favourite to replace him in west London, but a surprising name has entered the running.

Former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira is now ranked as the second favourite to replace Sarri, according to Betfair, tipped at 7/2.

Vieira has long been seen as a future Arsenal manager and was linked with the post last year when Arsene Wenger departed the Emirates Stadium, before the position was handed to Unai Emery.

A return to London, this time on the blue half of the capital, would certainly be a surprise given his links to Arsenal, although he has already held a close relationship with Premier League champions Manchester City due to his time with MLS outfit New York City FC.

With Arsenal still mourning in the wake of their Europa League defeat to the Blues, seeing Vieira sit in the dugout for one of their arch-rivals would provide another sucker punch to the supporters.
