Edu has been handed an interesting option at Arsenal as cult hero Marc Overmars is reportedly keen on a return to the club.
The 47-year-old is said to be keen on a new challenge and is ready to leave Ajax, where he has been Director of Football for the past eight years.
A return to Arsenal is something that the former winger is said to be open to, De Telegraaf reports, though a move to Barcelona, who he joined from the Gunners in 2000, is also of interest.
That presents a huge opportunity for Arsenal, with Overmars credited with an integral role in Ajax's tremendous performances in the past eight years.
A highlight of that period was the run to the 2018 Champions League semi-final, with a squad brimming with academy prospects - many of whom have since been sold for significant profit.
That sort of experience would be valuable to an Arsenal side that have often encountered problems, particularly in their outgoing transfer dealings where the club have failed to earn the sort of fees that their rivals have.
Edu, Arsenal's techinal director, currently has a huge role to play at the club following changes last summer, which saw Huss Fahmy and Raul Sanllehi leave the club.
He currently works closely with CEO Vinai Venkatesham and Mikel Arteta on transfer dealings but their may be a slot for Overmars to fill to help assist the transfer dealings.
Whether Arsenal are also open to a reunion remains to be seen but it could be a golden opportunity to land one of the most highly-regarded transfer gurus in world football.
