Arsenal legend Martin Keown makes bold Gabriel Martinelli prediction after Chelsea draw

Arsenal legend Martin Keown has hailed Gabriel Martinelli after his performance in the 2-2 draw against Chelsea, where the teenager scored the first equaliser of the evening.

The Gunners trailed to a Jorginho penalty but responded in the second half when Martinelli surged through on goal to equalise, with Cesar Azpilicueta and Hector Bellerin then exchanging late goals.

It was the performance of Martinelli that caught the eye though, with the 18-year-old scoring for the second Premier League match in a row.

That earned rave reviews from Keown, who declared the Brazilian starlet has the 'club in the palm of his hands' and compared the display to a performance over two decades ago.

"The Martinelli goal, that encapsulates the newfound spirit that is among Arsenal. That young man, honestly, he has the club in the palm of his hands,” he told BT Sport.

"He can take it wherever he wants to.

"He was everywhere tonight, the youngest player on the pitch and he’s showing the way for all the other senior players.

"It’s really encouraging watching it.

"I was here in 1999 where Nwankwo Kanu scored three goals to get Arsenal back into to win a game that they never should have won and that looked dead and buried where they were down to 10 men, somehow they found a way to get back into it.”
