Arsenal legend makes huge Arsene Wenger transfer demand

Arsene Wenger left a big hole when he departed Arsenal last summer but one legend has urged the club to pull off what would be a sensational return.

The Frenchman arrived in London back in 1996 and took over the reigns at the Gunners before guiding the club to three Premier League titles.

A barren run in the league eventually led to the club freshening things up but Wenger still has desires to make a return to football.

He has been linked with an array of job vacancies over the past twelve months, while we have also seen him on beIN SPORTS for a spot of punditry.

But former Arsenal star Charlie Nicholas believes the Gunners should bring Wenger back to the Emirates in a transfer-related role to help Unai Emery secure some big names.

"Sometimes I like to throw one (an idea) in every now and then, like we all do," Nicholas told the Transfer Talk podcast .

"It’s not just because I’m trying to be controversial but Arsene Wenger has been out of a job for a long time.

"Arsenal tried to keep him because he can help guide us in case there was trouble that was going to be there for the club.

"Bayern Munich have had (Karl-Heinz) Rummenigge and (Franz) Beckenbauer, Man United have Alex Ferguson, Liverpool have King Kenny Dalglish.

"We missed out on that because Arsene said he wanted to take a break. But he’s been out of a job a long time. I would have simply have said: ‘Well, why don’t you go after Arsene Wenger?’.

"If Arsene Wenger sits in a room with these different players that we are trying to attract, I think we’d get more of a say and more a feel that they can generally attract these players."
