Arsenal legend Lee Dixon delivers withering review of Unai Emery's team after Watford collapse

Former Arsenal defender Lee Dixon has hammered Unai Emery's team for their performance in a 2-2 draw with Watford.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice in the first half to deliver the Gunners a two goal lead only for his colleagues at the other end of the pitch to squander their advantage.

David Luiz and Sokratis Papastathopoulos made two errors in the second half as the Greek passed the ball to Gerard Deulofeu inside the Arsenal box for Tom Cleverley to strike home Watford's first goal before the Brazilian gave away a late penalty.

It left the visitors on the ropes as the home team sought to find a shock winner in the first game since the return of manager Quique Sanchez Flores.

The Spaniard was appointed last week to replace his countryman Javi Gracia after the Hornets managed to win only one point from their first four league games of the season.

Arsene Wenger not ruling out leading a team at next World Cup

Despite going up against the bottom-placed side in the English topflight, Arsenal were out-shot by a margin of 31 to seven - a new negative club record for the Gunners in the Premier League.

Watching on as a spectator, Dixon took to his official Twitter account after the game to make his thoughts clear on the performance.

"The worst performance without the ball for a very long time," he tweeted. "No accountability what so ever.

"Game management zero. Game understanding zero. Responsibility to others zero. Very very poor."

Emery has also been criticised for his substitutions against Watford, especially taking off Dani Ceballos in the second half.

In second season in charge as head coach of the Gunners, the Spaniard must take Arsenal back into the Champions League either through a top four finish or victory in the Europa League.

Last season he came close finishing as runner-up to Chelsea in the Europa League final in Baku and ending up fifth in the Premier League. He will be expected to go further this year.
