Arsenal legend Ian Wright to attend Bristol City against Charlton Athletic after Leeds United advice

Ian Wright has come good on his word and will attend Bristol City against Charlton Athletic this evening.

The legendary striker had promised to see the Robins in action after speaking with manager Lee Johnson on national radio.

Johnson had invited Wright to a match after he admitted he had advised Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah to move to Leeds United on loan instead of the Robins.

The Gunners hero has now tweeted that he is at the game this evening, replying to a message from Rio Ferdinand.

He said: Keeping it real in the Championship tonight bro. Bristol City vs Charlton."

In a conversation on Five Live last night, Wright admitted to Johnson that he had told Nketiah to move to Leeds, but that he felt a loan at the Robins would also benefit him after seeing how well Tammy Abraham excelled at Ashton Gate.

"I did mention for him to go there!" Wright said on the radio. "I said to him, you seen what Tammy can do there, they can create but you've got the crowds and everything (at Leeds) and that's what I think he was attracted by."

"I'll have to invite you down to Bristol City, aren't I?" Johnson replied. "You can see what we're all about."

Wright then said he was keen to take Johnson up on the offer.

"I'm coming down to Bristol City," Wright said. "I'm coming down to watch them.

"When you're ready, man, when you're ready."

Last week, Johnson confirmed that the two had been in contact, and that Wright's influence on young players meant it was important for the striker-turned-pundit to have a positive view of the Robins.

He said: "I'll definitely get him in the office and we'll have a little chat and hopefully sell him the dream as well, because if there's any future players that want to ask Ian Wright's opinion, it's important that he knows what we're about."
