Arsenal midfielder Dani Ceballos has been criticised over a controversial incident during Friday night's defeat to Everton.
The Gunners slipped to a 1-0 defeat to the Toffees at the Emirates Stadium on an evening that was dominated by headlines off the pitch amid mass protests over Stan Kroenke's ownership.
On the pitch, it was a howling Bernd Leno error that handed Everton the win, the goalkeeper fumbling a cross into his own net on an evening when Mikel Arteta's men dominated but struggled to create.
Arteta was left furious after the game due to an incident early in the second half when Dani Ceballos was tripped in the area, leading to the award of a penalty.
But after VAR review, Ceballos was found to have made his run from an offside position and the penalty was chalked off, denying Arsenal the chance to take the lead.
And while fans and Arteta were left furious, Gunners legend Wright is having none of it, claiming Ceballos went to ground too easily anyway.
“For me it wasn’t a penalty,” Wright told Optus Sport. “It’s not something I like to see. Ceballos is [often] guilty of this kind of thing.
“There’s nowhere near enough contact for him to go down the way he goes down. It’s horrible to see, It’s nothing.”
He added: “These little lines, it’s too close. If they’ve got to draw other lines, dotted lines, it’s at least level.
“Come on man. How are they working that out? It almost feels like they’re making it up. They can literally say anything they’ve got the line that close.”
Speaking about the incident, Arteta said: "Enough is enough. Today to be fair, I had enough.
"We've had many of them that nobody explains, when they explain to them they say 'yeah, sorry it was a mistake'. But unfortunately, it's affecting a lot of people and it affects our job, and most importantly our football club."
