Arsenal legend Ian Wright and Chelsea hero Didier Drogba inducted into Premier League Hall of Fame

Arsenal legend Ian Wright and Chelsea great Didier Drogba are among six new inductees into the Premier League Hall of Fame.

Manchester City pair Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany have also joined the ranks, as have Manchester United duo Peter Schmeichel and Paul Scholes.

Wright, who also enjoyed a brief spell with West Ham, scored 113 goals in 213 appearances in the competition and won the title in 1997/98, breaking Cliff Bastin’s all-time Gunners scoring record in the process, thought it has since been surpassed by fellow Hall of Famer Thierry Henry.

Drogba, meanwhile, arrived at Chelsea in the transformative summer of 2004 and was part of the famous side that won back-to-back titles under Jose Mourinho, before lifting the trophy again in 2009/10 and after returning for a second spell at the club in 2014/15.

England midfielder Scholes is another to have managed a century of goals and is the second-most successful player in Premier League history, having won the title 11 times, fewer only than former teammate Ryan Giggs.

Another of Scholes’ ex-teammates, Schmeichel is the first goalkeeper to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, having won five titles at Old Trafford during the 1990s before going on to play for rivals City and Aston Villa.

Aguero is the highest-scoring foreign player in the league’s history, having scored 184 goals in 275 appearances for City, and the Argentine was responsible for perhaps the greatest moment in Premier League history, when his injury-time winner against QPR clinched the 2011/12 title in the dying moments of the season.

He won the title five times in all, with former City captain Kompany playing a part in all but one of those to earn his own place in the Hall of Fame.

They join Thierry Henry, Alan Shearer, David Beckham, Dennis Bergkamp, Eric Cantona, Steven Gerrard, Roy Keane, Frank Lampard, Patrick Vieira and Wayne Rooney in the Hall of Fame.
