Arsenal legend has already explained why Leeds United transfer target is worth signing

Arsenal legend and Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira has already spoken highly of Leeds United-linked Yangel Herrera, describing the midfielder as having 'crucial' attributes for a player in his position.

The Frenchman utilised the Venezuelan during his stint with New York City FC, one of three loan moves he has had away from Manchester City since signing from Atletico Venezuela in 2017.

His latest temporary move came with Granada where he spent two seasons, scoring five goals in 62 appearances in Spain.

El Gol Digital, via our colleagues at the Manchester Evening News, reported last month that the "combative midfielder looks to be snapped up" by Marcelo Bielsa's side.

In 38 games in the MLS, he scored just one goal under the new Eagles head coach.

“He’s a tactically intelligent midfielder who is strong in the tackle and reads the game well. Yangel also has a good passing range and spatial awareness, which is crucial for a player in his position," Vieira said, speaking highly of the 23-year-old in 2017.

The report goes on to suggest that Atletico Madrid are one of the clubs vying for his signature.

A midfielder and a winger is said to be on Bielsa's wishlist with Huddersfield Town's Lewis O'Brien another name fiercely touted with a move to Elland Road.

And the Terriers midfielder has made just one Championship appearance and that came on Tuesday night in the 1-0 win over Preston North End, a £7million price tag has reportedly been slapped on his head for his services.

Southampton and West Ham are also reportedly in the running to sign him, but it has been said that any interested party would need to fork out up £20million to acquire his signature.
