Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell has sent AC Milan a cheeky message about their plans to grab Lucas Torreira - and it will go down well with Gunners fans everywhere.
Torreira is wanted by the San Siro side now managed by his former boss at Sampdoria Marco Giampaolo after an impressive first season in north London for Unai Emery.
Torreira signed for Arsenal for £26m last summer and made 34 appearances, scoring two goals including a spectacular late winner against Huddersfield as well as providing two assists.
However, while it is understood Torreira has not indicated a wish to leave the Emirates he is being courted by Milan - who want to take him on loan first.
While the Gunners would explore the ramifications of a 'double-your-money' offer from the Serie A side, the prospect of a loan move for one Emery's key performers is understandably not being entertained by the club. - with fans also questioning the idea.
Campbell agrees that with Arsenal only having a transfer budget of around £45m coupled with revenue from players sales and the wages of players who have left the Emirates to play with Milan's offer of a loan deal is out of the question.
"Torreira did well last season for Arsenal even if he ran out of steam a bit towards the end of the campaign.
"He has become an important player for the club - so for Milan to offer to take him on loan, well, what is point the of that?
"It certainly doesn't benefit Arsenal - what do I think about that? No chance! Milan have got no chance of taking Torreria on loan."
