Arsenal legend explains why he doesn't want "strange" Wilfried Zaha transfer to happen

David Seaman doesn't want Arsenal to prioritise signing Wilfried Zaha this summer because there are other areas at the club that need strengthening first.

The Gunners have been linked with the Crystal Palace winger - a boyhood Arsenal fan - for most of the transfer window but are yet to make an official approach.

Arsenal do not have the transfer funds to compete with the rest of the Premier League Big Six and Unai Emery is under pressure to spend wisely.

Zaha could set the club back in excess of £70million, which would prevent Arsenal from signing any other players until January 2020.

And Seaman thinks this is a bad idea because the club are more in need of defensive reinforcements.

"There's talk of Zaha coming in but that's not really the position that we need, which is strange," Seaman told Sky Sports.

"I wouldn't have thought [Wilf Zaha will be wearing the Arsenal shirt], I'd be very surprised if he did. I'd rather see a good defender wearing it!"

Arsenal are yet to make a signing this summer but have been linked to a handful of players both from the Premier League and abroad.

Among these are Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney, Toulouse centre-back William Saliba and Belgium international Yannick Carrasco.
