Arsenal legend Arsene Wenger gives his verdict on Manchester United's young squad

Arsene Wenger has revealed that he is 'not convinced' that Manchester United's young squad will be able to repeat the success of the Class of '92.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer oversaw a big clear out at Old Trafford this summer as he looks to reshape the squad after a disastrous run of form at the tail end of last season.

Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez, Chris Smalling, Matteo Darmian, Ander Herrera and Antonio Valencia all left United one way or another in the transfer window and Daniel James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire were brought in.

It's led to a much more youthful United side this season with a staring XI with the average age of 24 years and 312 days, the lowest since an end of season clash against Crystal Palace before the Europa League final in 2017.

Despite the youthful exuberance, United are still on a poor run of form with just three victories in the last 15 games which has led to Wenger casting his doubts on United's chances this season.

"Look when you see Man Utd it's one of the examples we spoke about, at the moment there is a potential there but they haven't found a collective way," the former Arsenal manager told beIN Sports.

"Maybe because all of these players are not mature enough to carry the team play of a team like Man Utd all together, that's a question mark now.

"You feel there's something coming out but it's not ready, that's why when you watch them play they're not candidates to fight for the championship.

"Will they emulate what Giggs, Scholes, Beckham did over the years? Personally, I'm not convinced."
